Suspect Killed, Clerk Shot, In East Hartford Store Robbery, Police Say An alleged suspect was shot and killed while struggling with an employee, who was also shot, during an attempted robbery at a Connecticut store.  The incident took place in East Hartford around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Humble & Paid Company at 1285 Main St. According to East Hartford Officer Marc Caruso, two suspects wearing black ski masks entered the business with the intention of committing a robbery.  A brief struggle took place between the store clerk and one of the suspects, identified as Jashar Haslam, age 26, of Hartford, who pulled out a firearm. Police Searching For Car In East Hartford Fatal Hit-Run Police are searching for a silver car after a man was hit and killed by a hit-and-run driver in East Hartford. The victim was discovered when police responded to the intersection of Main and Pitkin streets in East Hartford around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18, said Officer Marc Caruso, of the East Hartford Police. Police found the man laying in the intersection with severe injuries. The East Hartford Fire Department was also on the scene and immediately initiated lifesaving measures, Caruso said.
