Target To Open At Danbury Fair Mall In Former Sears Location A new Target store will be opening at the Danbury Fair Mall. It will take over the space formerly occupied by Sears, according to an announcement made on Tuesday, June 21 by Macerich, owns and operates the mall. The 126,000 square-foot two-level Target store will be the first in the City of Danbury. Second Person Arrested In Connecticut Mall Shooting Melee A second person has been arrested in connection with a shooting at the Danbury Fair Mall that left a 15-year-old girl wounded. Derek Sotelo, age 18, of Danbury, was apprehended by Danbury Police on Tuesday, Aug. 24 for having a hammer during the incident.  The shooting took place during an altercation between two groups of teens on Wednesday, Aug. 11, near the entrance to Macy's at Danbury Fair Mall. According to the Disney Store website, the following stores are closing in Connecticut: Danbury: Danbury Fair Mall, 7 Backus Ave. Farmington: Westfarms Mall, 500 Westfarms Mall After the next round of closings, only 25 stores will remain in operation. Disney last March announced at least 60 of its North America stores to focus on online sales.
