Wilton Could See Rain Thursday, Then Snowy Start To Christmas Eve Day

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — It's officially winter, but the weather continues to send mixed signals across Fairfield County, but the chances are low for celebrating a White Christmas this year.

Morning snow could be followed by a wintry mix to start Christmas Eve Day, but Christmas Day should be a mostly sunny one.

After a chilly Wednesday with temperatures in the mid-30s, Thursday will bring a slight chance of showers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Clouds will then give way to sun, with a high in the mid-40s. Temps will then drop to about 25 degrees overnight.

Friday will be sunny, with a high in the mid- to upper 40s as many begin their holiday travels. But the weather will change forces by Friday night, with a 30 percent chance of snow overnight as temperatures drop below freezing.

Early on Christmas Eve Day, the chance of snow increases to 70 percent, likely becoming all rain after 9 a.m. Saturday before gradually ending. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 42 degrees. Less than a half-inch of snow is expected, but it may make for messy last-minute shopping.

Christmas Day will dawn mostly sunny, with a high near 45 degrees.
