A police department in Fairfield County beefed up security at a pair of area elementary schools after a pedestrian made “idle threats” and was "exhibiting erratic behavior," officials said. A Fairfield County school district is reporting nearly a dozen new cases of COVID-19 that have been confirmed in students and staffers. Staples High School Principal James D’Amico has submitted his resignation and a search for his successor has already kicked off, school officials announced on Friday.
