It’s the end of an era for bakery bargain shoppers as longtime staple Freihofer’s Bakery Outlet has permanently closed. The discount bakery chain has shuttered dozens of stores across the Northeast, including all of its New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts locations. “After careful analysis and consideration, we made the difficult decision to permanently close 28 of our outlet stores…” a representative for Bimbo Bakeries, Freihofer's parent company, told Daily Voice. Three new cases of the COVID-19 variant so-called "Super Strain" that is said to be approximately 70 percent more contagious have now been confirmed in New York. That brings to four the total number now reported in the state. One of the new cases is on Long Island, in Nassau County. That case is a 64-year-old Massapequa man, New York Gov. A case of the COVID-19 variant so-called "Super Strain" that is said to be approximately 70 percent more contagious has now been confirmed in New York. An upstate man in his 60s who had been symptomatic is now feeling better, according to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday, Jan. 4. The man works at N. Sears Announces 40 New Store Closures, Including One In CT
Less than a month after it filed for bankruptcy and announced the closures of 142 Sears and Kmart stores, Sears Holdings is saying it's planning to close another 40 stores in February.
