Darien Police Welcome New Officer The Darien Police Department has welcomed a new member to its ranks. Matthew Ackerman has been hired by the Darien Police Department after serving seven years with the Stratford Police Department, where he was a member of the dive team, helicopter team, and certified as an EMT. Darien Police Sgt. James Palmeri said that Ackerman currently has an associate’s degree from Housatonic Community College and is currently enrolled at UConn, where he is continuing his education.
