A 30-year-old woman who targeted grieving families in the Hudson Valley will spend more than a decade behind bars after being found guilty of burglarizing multiple homes in the region. In October, Bronx resident Latonia Stewart was found guilty of six counts of burglary and criminal possession of stolen property following a weeklong trial for a rash of New York and Connecticut burglaries in Westchester, Fairfield, and Putnam counties between the winter of 2017 and spring 2018. A string of bank robberies in Connecticut led to the fatal officer-involved shooting of a man wanted in connection with a death investigation and the arrests of two other wanted suspects at a motel in Westchester late Monday night, June 3. Victor Gonzalez, 41, of Millwood was sentenced to 19 1/2 years in prison in White Plains Federal Court on Friday, May 3 after pleading guilty on Jan. 24. Update: An 85-year-old Westchester man who went missing has been located and is safe. John Lamson was observed by a concerned citizen walking in the vicinity of the BP Gas Station, 190 Aqueduct Road in White Plains at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the Town of Greenburgh, Greenburgh Police said. Police are alerting residents to a "spoofing" scam in which the callers pretend to be police officers or other municipal officers in an attempt to solicit money and sensitive personal information. On Friday, Jan. 25, a town resident reported receiving a suspicious phone call that appeared to originate from the Greenburgh Police Department, Chief Chris McNerney said on Saturday, Jan. 26. 'Apple Store' Fake Call Among Several Scams Making Rounds In Area
A Westchester resident told Daily Voice that she received three calls on Thursday, May 17 purporting to be from Apple.Inc with the phone number of the Apple store in the Westchester Mall, which is still under construction. It's among several scams involving Apple making the rounds in the area, authorities say.
