Swanson of Brewster died on Monday, Oct. 22.  He was born on Jan. 24, 1990 in Carmel, the son of Bruce and Mary (Sammarco) Swanson and brother of Victoria and Michael Swanson.  He graduated from Brewster High School, was a member of the National Honor Society and of several modified and high school football teams. Area Student-Athlete Dies At 17 After Battling Cancer A student-athlete who was entering his senior year at John F. Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers has died after a battle with cancer. Brendan James Maguire, 17, of Patterson died on Monday, Aug 20. He had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma 14 months ago. He played both basketball and baseball at Kennedy Catholic, where his courage and faith, displayed throughout his illness, inspired all those around him.
