Fairfield County Man Among People, Businesses Charged For Auto Fraud
A two-year investigation into an auto fraud scheme in Westchester and the Bronx led to the arrest of nine people and five businesses that are now facing charges for trying to pull a fast one on their customers. “Operation Sledgehammer,” an enterprise insurance fraud scheme that operated in lower Westchester and the Bronx has been taken down, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Wednesday, Dec. 9. A Westchester woman who worked as an orthodontist in Fairfield County has been indicted on an attempted murder charge for allegedly attempting to murder her ex-fiance's current girlfriend. New Rochelle resident Alika Crew was indicted by a Westchester County grand jury for allegedly stabbed her victim repeatedly after hiding in her car. Man With Forged Connecticut ID Admits To Breaking Into NY Mailbox
A man who was busted in possession of a forged Connecticut driver’s license admitted to using a postal key to steal undelivered mail from a USPS mailbox in Westchester last year. Bronx resident James Rodriguez, 31, pleaded guilty on Thursday, Sept. 17 in Westchester County Court to a pair of felony charges after he was busted stealing mail in Mount Vernon last year. Parole Of Norwalk Man In Rape/Murder Case Of Two Women Sparks Outrage
Found guilty of the rape and murder of Sheila Watson and Bonnie Minter while their children were within earshot at their Northern Westchester home in Lewisboro in 1978, the now-68-year-old Sam Ayala was granted parole in mid-March and could be released as early as Thursday, Sept. 3. Former HR Officer From Greenwich Admits To $417K Performance Scam
A woman who worked as a human resources officer at FujiFilm in Westchester admitted to stealing more than $400,000 from the company. Fairfield County resident Maria Mecca, 39, of Greenwich, pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny in Westchester County Court, District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced. She remains free on bail and was ordered to pay restitution to FujiFilm, which is based out of Valhalla. Mecca is due back in court on March 18 next year for sentencing. Woman Sentenced For DWI Crash That Killed Brookfield HS Grad
The family of a 21-year-old Manhattanville College student scolded the drunk driver who struck and killed their son in court at her sentencing on Wednesday. Rye resident Emma Fox, 26, was sentenced for her role as the driver in a fatal crash that took the life of Fishkill resident Robby Schartner, who graduated from Brookfield High School and formerly lived in Putnam County, in Garrison.
