Young Wilton Wrestlers Medal at Weekend Tourneys

WILTON, Conn. – Members of the Wilton Youth Wrestling team won medals in tournaments in Beacon, N.Y., and Southington over the weekend.

In the Beacon Advanced Tournament, Caleb Forland won gold in the elementary division while Ben Leung won silver. Forland recorded three pins and a takedown in overtime for another victory. Leung won three matches, two by pin, to grab silver.

Hans Forland, Quinn Reedy and Evan Titus took home gold in the middle school division. Will Litton won silver and Finn McGovern captured bronze.

Wilton won five golds in the Southington Beginners Tournament. Max Mannino, Mikey Longo, Travis Longo, Dom Romeo and Wooder Thoby stepped to the top of the pedestal.  Dom Caratozzollo, Stephen Kendra, Johnny Maggio and Aaron Robertson won silvers, while Ryan Collins, Trey Dexter, Griffin Morris and Eric Zhang took bronze.

In 62 bouts with 21 wrestlers, Wilton went 43-19 over the weekend. More information about Wilton’s youth wrestling program can be found at wiltonyouthwrestling.org and at facebook.com/wywct.
