Young Wilton Wrestlers Medal at State Qualifier

WILTON, Conn. – Wilton Youth Wrestling won two gold and five silver medals in the Connecticut Sate Qualifiers tournament last weekend in Milford.

Hans Forland and Will Litton took home gold medals for Wilton. Patrick Ciquera, Michael Longo, Travis Longo, Max Mannino, and visiting wrestler Nicholas Vranos won silver medals. 

Finn McGovern and Jay Spaulding also qualified to move onto the state championships, which are scheduled for this weekend in New Haven. The Wilton wrestlers will be joined at the state championships by wrestlers from other qualifying meets in Milford, Danbury, Newington and Colchester.

Winners of the state meet are invited to compete in the USA New England Championships in Rhode Island March 4.

One of Wilton’s top wrestlers, Quinn Reedy, missed the meet due to an injury sustained in practice. Reedy was expected to qualify for the state meet.

The competition featured nearly 300 wrestlers. Several of the weight brackets included  16 wrestlers.
