Wilton Still Searching for First Victory

It's looking bleak for the Wilton High School girls basketball team just two games into the season. Margaret Smith, the Warriors' lone senior, is sidelined with a shoulder injury, and Wilton has struggled to come up with points against its first two opponents. The frustration is mounting after a 48-35 loss against Trinity Catholic on Friday night.

Wilton got into foul trouble early and often, letting the Crusaders pad their lead with 18 points in free throws. Trinity led a well-balanced attack against the Warriors with eight Crusaders coming up with points. A 10-0 run to close the first half put the game out of reach for Wilton.

Casey Pearsall led all players with 15 points, and Maddy Fulton added 13. Wilton was inconsistent beyond those two girls and could not get the ball rolling. Trinity led by as much as 14 points in the second half.

Wilton, now 0-2, will try for its first win of the season against Bridgeport Central in its home opener Wednesday.
