Wilton Second Half Comeback Sparks State Win

WILTON, Conn. - The Wilton High girls basketball team erased an eight-point deficit with just over two minutes to go in the third quarter to survive a scare from Foran of Milford on Tuesday evening. Wilton finished the game on a 26-9 run to move on to the second round of the Class L state tournament with a 54-45 win.

Leading scorer Maddy Fulton was held in check throughout the game, but Alyssa Malvarossa broke out for a game-high 18 points to lead the Warriors' charge. Casey Pearsall posted a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds), while freshman Erica Meyer had one of the best nights of her young career with 13 points.

It is the second year in a row the Warriors have advanced to the second round of the Class L tournament. The tenth-seeded Warriors (15-7) head to Hebron on Friday to take on seventh-ranked RHAM High School (15-5). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
