Wilton Runners Finish Indoor Season Strong

Brynn Parsons and Kafesha Thomas of Wilton finished their 2011 indoor season with very strong performances in the 60 meter at the New Balance National Indoor Championships for Emerging Elite at the Armory.

Thomas finished 18th with a time of 8:02, Parsons 19th in 8:03. They were the top two finishers from Connecticut in a field that included the Connecticut Open 55 meter champion.

The New Balance meet brings together the best track athletes in the country to compete for championships and recognition at the Elite and Emerging Elite level. Athletes must achieve national qualifying standards in each event to be entered.

"It is not easy to qualify for the 60M at the New Balance meet. They needed to run a sub 7.43 in the 55M during the season to be eligible, and that is a top five or six time in the state of Connecticut," said Coach Kevin Foley. "As far as I know, they posted the best 60M times in Connecticut this year and it was a great way to end their season."
