Wilton Girls Face Unbeaten Danbury for Title Shot

WILTON, Conn. - The Wilton High girls basketball team is just one win away from its first trip to the conference finals since 1989. But the Warriors have to pass their toughest test of the season to get there.

The Warriors (13-5) take on undefeated Danbury in the conference semifinals Tuesday evening at Fairfield Ludlowe High School at the conclusion of the Stamford-Trumbull semifinal. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wilton's start time is approximated to be at 7:30 p.m.

It has already been an historic season for Wilton, which clinched its first conference playoff spot since 2003. The Warriors edged Norwalk on Saturday, 49-47, to advance in the conference tournament for the first time since 1996.

Danbury (20-0) has dominated just about every team it has played. Wilton is one of only two teams all year that has managed to finish a game within 10 points of the Hatters. Wilton lost to Danbury, 64-58, back on Feb. 10. Danbury advanced to the conference semifinals by pulling away from a feisty Darien squad for a 63-40 win.

The conference finals are scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m., also at Fairfield Ludlowe.
