Wilton 5th Grade Boys Fall to Madison

WILTON, Conn. — The Wilton boys fifth-grade travel basketball team played its third game in two days Sunday in the Darien season-opening tournament, losing a hard-fought battle to a tough team from Madison, 34-28.

Madison jumped out to an early lead, but Wilton's Tyler Previte got the offense going with a tough basket in the paint. Zach Pozzi had another basket and free throw, and Billy Ronk added four points.  Zayvion Eusebe was a force on the boards to keep Wilton in the game at 20-12 at the half.

Wilton came out in the second half playing tough defense behind Zach Dedrick and Richard Nolan. With baskets by Ryan Schriber and Brendan Connor, Wilton still trailed 26-17 heading into the final quarter. Wilton outscored Madison 11-8 in the fourth behind five points from Kyle Phillips, along with baskets by Cole Barnes and Schriber. Wilton had cut the lead to four, but Madison held on for the win.
