Christian Higgins became a national champion for the Wilton Wahoos last week. Higgins, from New Canaan, won the 100-meter breaststroke in the Speedo Junior National Championships in Irvine, Calif.
Higgins won in 1:02.9. He holds the meet record of 1:02.29, which he set last year. Higgins held off a challenge from Zachary Gunn, who finished second in 1:03.13.
In the women's 100-meter breaststroke finals, K.C. Moss of the Wahoos finished in 10th place overall and second in the consolation finals. She swam 1:11.40.
Earlier in the meet, Higgins finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke finals. Moss was also fourth in the breaststroke finals.
