Gee Among Fciac Hall Inductees

Wilton track coach Jeff Gee will be among six inductees into the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Hall of Fame Tuesday at Testo’s Restaurant in Bridgeport. The FCIAC Awards Program banquet begins at at 5 p.m.

Gee, Ed Lane, Joe Schnierlein, Dave Schulz, Jim Girard and George Albano will be the new inductees during the program. The RoseMarie Carlucci Scholarship will be awarded to current high school student/athletes, one male and one female will receive the FCIAC/MSG Scholarship, one school will be honored for being the Most Outstanding Athletic Program in the FCIAC, and all of the coaches that have been designated the “Coach of the Year” in their respective sports will be honored in addition to the FCIAC Hall of Fame induction.

Gee was also a runner for the cross country and track programs at Rippowam, where he graduated from in 1970. He began his coaching career at his alma mater as an unpaid assistant to Sal Ferreri before moving on to coach at Westhill, Darien and Weston.

In 1986, Gee was hired by Wilton athletic director Nick Zeoli to coach the girls’ outdoor track and field team, where he is now in his 25th year there. Gee began coaching the Wilton cross country and in 1988 and in the 1990s he guided a girls’ cross country dynasty that won many FCIAC and state championships.

Gee’s Wilton High School girls’ cross country teams have racked up seven FCIAC championships, five state class championships, three State Open championships, and the Warriors have been runner-up twice in the State Open, seven times in state class meets and five times in the FCIAC. Gee has also accumulated a 357-39 career record in cross country dual meets. In indoor track and field, Gee’s girls have won have two state class crowns and a pair of State Open titles, and the outdoor track and field program has also won two state class championships.
