Letter: Miller-Driscoll PTA Removes Its Leaders

WILTON, Conn. — The following letter was sent to The Daily Wilton from a parent at Miller-Driscoll Elementary School. The parent received it from the school's PTA.

Dear Miller-Driscoll Families -

We regret to inform you of events that transpired at the Miller-Driscoll PTA meeting Monday morning. David Crays, president, and Robert Burkhart, vice president, were removed from office by the Miller-Driscoll PTA general membership due to non-fulfillment of job responsibilities and other Miller-Driscoll bylaws violations.

Based on the line of succession prescribed by the Miller-Driscoll bylaws, Heather Pettit, grant director, assumes the duties of Miller-Driscoll PTA president until a new president is voted into office by the general membership.

With these openings comes a need to form a Nominations Committee to fill the positions of president and vice president. We would like to form a committee of three to five people to look into qualified candidates for these positions to be presented at the March 19, 2012, general membership PTA meeting.

If you are interested in being a part of this nominating committee, please contact Heather Pettit at heatherpettit@aol.com

While the Miller-Driscoll PTA has weathered some storms this school year, we are confident that with the support of the parent, teacher and administrative community the Miller-Driscoll PTA will remain a strong advocate for the children of Miller-Driscoll and will continue to provide the enrichment activities, programs and gifts and grants for the children that families expect from their PTA.

Sincerely,

Heather Pettit

Miller-Driscoll PTA,  interim President
