WILTON, Conn. – A Wilton resident and business executive was nominated as the candidate to run for the 26th state Senate District at the Connecticut Democratic Party convention.

“I am listening to the 26th of Connecticut,” Phil Sharlach said in a press release. “I can advocate for and receive a greater share of the services and funds from our state government. My experience has shown that we can improve upon the revenue stream in compliance with existing legislation.”

Sharlach worked with the U.S. General Accountability Office for more than 30 years. He developed the financial management plan for the breakup of AT&T. He has also built business strategies for Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers and Verizon.

Sharlach is also an adviser for SCORE, a nonprofit business consulting service that helps people launch small businesses, according to a press release.

He has supported veteran mental health with the wellness organization, OnGo Health, according to a press release. He served in the U.S. Army between 1968 and 1974. The Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfeild County on May 20 awarded Sharlach with the 2014 Patient Support Award.

In the fall election, he will challenge incumbent state Sen. Toni Boucher for the seat. The 26th Senate District includes Bethel, New Canaan, Redding, Ridgefield, Weston and Westport.
