Wilton Man Accused Of Inhaling Chemicals In Library Bathroom

WILTON, Conn. — A 27-year-old Wilton man was charged with breach of peace last week after he was found in a bathroom stall at the Wilton Library after hours, police said.

Brian Schoonmaker of Catalpa Road was discovered by library maintenance staff last Friday, the arrest report said. Schoonmaker was asked twice to leave but appeared to be intoxicated, the report said.

When police arrived, Schoonmaker was found partially responsive and holding a can of “Dust-Off,” a dust cleaner containing a chemical that can be used for getting high, police said. He was directed by police to leave and was seen placing the can into his coat pocket, the report said.

It is believed that Schoonmaker was inhaling the “Dust-Off” in the bathroom, police said. He was released on a promise to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 25.
