Wilton Police say they responded to a report of a motorist driving erratically on Danbury Road on Sunday, Sept. 29 around 9:15 p.m.
The motorist, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer, almost hit a guardrail before swerving into another lane, according to police.
A traffic stop was initiated, and police say they detected an alcoholic odor coming from the driver, who was identified as Joel Perdomo-Suarez, 43, of Elkton, Maryland.
Perdomo-Suarez was asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say he did not pass.
Perdomo-Suarez was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.
Perdomo-Suarez submitted to a breath test, which police say gave a BAC reading of .1604.
Perdomo-Suarez was released after posting a $260 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Thursday, Oct. 10.
