Georgetown Fire Department Spells Out How Much Equipment Actually Costs

GEORGETOWN, Conn. -- Volunteers with the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department spend hours volunteering their time helping to keep residents safe.

The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department asked random people how much fire gear cos. The real answers will surprise you.

But during their downtime, they decided to ask residents if they knew how much all the gear they wear and use actually costs. The result? Most people answered with a number way under the amount the equipment really costs. 

The video is going viral on Facebook, with nearly 700,000 views. 

For instant, a fire truck with the all the gear runs around $800,000. The resident they asked priced the truck at $250,000.
