Luis A. Moreno Jr., 83, Of Wilton, WWII Veteran

WILTON, Conn. - Luis A. Moreno Jr. of Wilton died April 30. He was 83.

Moreno was born Feb. 13, 1921, in Havana, Cuba, to Luis and Maria Aragon Moreno of New York City. He graduated from the High School of Commerce in New York City and soon after, volunteered for the Army Air Corps where he earned his sergeant's stripes as a medic and a communications officer in WWII, serving both in the UK and France. He returned home to join the firm of Crespi and Fernandez and later Frank B. Hall, specializing in marine insurance. He eventually established his own firm of Moreno International Inc. in Westport.

Moreno is survived by children, Robert A. Moreno and his fiancée, Judy King of Princeton, N.J., Steven L. Moreno, of Boca Raton, Fla., Maria Cristina “Tina” Smith (Mark), of Norwalk and Victoria Oligino (James), of Bridgeport; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and his wife, Norma.

Calling hours are Monday, May 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hoyt Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
