Josephine Ursulina Hamm, 78, Of Wilton

WILTON, Conn. – Josephine “Josie” Ursulina Hamm, 78, a longtime resident of Wilton, died Thursday, Oct. 22 at Autumn Lake of Norwalk.

Born in Switzerland on April 11, 1937, she was the daughter of Emma and Benedikt Florin. 

She was an accomplished model who worked in Zurich, Milan, Paris and London. Her features brought her to the front page of magazines such as Elle and Annabelle. 

When she met her husband, Richard Hamm, an airline pilot, she followed him to Connecticut, where she continued her career for top modeling agencies in New York City.

An avid bridge player, she enjoyed card games and made many friends on the tennis court. Taking her mom on numerous trips around the world was another highlight of her fulfilled life.

She is survived by her mother, Emma, a centenarian, and four siblings.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Richard, and one brother.

A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Road, Wilton.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
