Clabaugh was born on June 30, 1988 at Stamford Hospital and attended Stamford schools until 1995, when his family moved to Wilton. His lifelong love of music and the trombone matured in Wilton and Clabaugh played in many ensembles throughout his academic life. As a junior and senior in high school, he was named the all-state bass trombone player and also was a member of the Norwalk Youth Symphony Principal Orchestra. He graduated from Wilton High School as a National Merit Semi-Finalist in 2006 and attended several colleges over the years.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister, Karen (Michael) Mrozek of Harrison, N.Y.; two aunts; two uncles; his girlfriend, Kristen Sierman; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 at the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, 1101 Bedford St. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Stamford, Hagan Music Fund, 1101 Bedford St., Stamford, Conn. 06905.
