WILTON, Conn. -- Charles Thomas Gebbia, 73, of Wilton, died Saturday, Dec. 26.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Charles A. Gebbia and Sally Ann Sweeney.
He graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy in the Bronx, N.Y. and Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y. with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree.
He was a certified public accountant. He spent his entire professional career with Ernst and Young, starting in the White Plains office in 1964 (then Ernst & Ernst).
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen; his daughter Eileen Hogan and her husband John Andrew Hogan of Woodbridge, Va.; son Michael Charles Gebbia and his wife Cynthia of Reidsville, N.C.; son Kevin John Gebbia and his wife Renee, of Oakville.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Kelly, Sarah and Colin Hogan; Erin, Laure, and Matthew Gebbia, Jake Gebbia and two step-grandchildren, Josh and Victoria. Also surviving are his sister Teresa Berardi and brother-in-law Alex; his sister Pamela Dowd and brother-in-law Tom; brother-in-law Michael Moroney; his brothers-in-law Jack Cole and Robert Cole and his wife Kerrin and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Carolyn Gayle Gebbia; his sister Gayle Gebbia Moroney; and his sister-in-law Sherry Cole.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Collins Funeral Home, where visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Fatima Church. The burial will take place Saturday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y., where he will rest with his daughter Carolyn.
