WILTON, Conn. -- Residents will have the opportunity to take advantage of new digital services offered by Wilton Library.
A new service, Hoopla Digital, provides more than 225,000 music albums for mobile and online access. Through this partnership, the library expands its digital service offerings to include downloadable and streaming pop and rock, country, soundtracks, rap, electronic, classic rock, Broadway shows and children’s music.
Thousands of titles can be borrowed from major record companies. Wilton residents can either download the Hoopla Digital app on a personal device, or they can access the online service by visiting www.wiltonlibrary.org and clicking on Digital Library and then Hoopla (Digital Music), or by visiting hoopladigital.com directly.
Albums are available to borrow for seven days for instant streaming or download to smartphones, tablets and computers. Up to five albums may be borrowed per month per registered Wilton Library card holder.
Another new Wilton Library service now features e-books and downloadable audiobooks in its online catalog for Wilton residents. When searching for a title in the catalog, patrons may see an “O” icon under the Check Out button, with a headphone icon for audiobooks and an e-reader icon for e-books.
The symbols mean that materials are available to borrow through the library’s OverDrive Digital Media Service. To reserve or borrow an OverDrive item, Wilton residents will sign into their accounts as usual. Items will still be reserved or borrowed through the OverDrive Digital Media Service apps on personal devices or computers, but searching for them becomes easier through the catalog.
If a Wilton resident is new to downloadable media, answers to questions about getting started can be found through the Digital Library button on the library’s homepage at www.wiltonlibrary.org, or by calling one of the knowledgeable reference librarians at 203-762-3950, ext. 211.
