Wilton Finance Board To Host Tax Information Meeting

WILTON, Conn. – Wilton residents with questions about the next mill rate and how the next revaluation of homes will affect taxes can speak with the Board of Finance at a community meeting Wednesday.

The Board of Finance will hold an information session at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Brubeck Room at Wilton Library.

Board Chairman Warren Serenbetz Jr. said the session will include an explanation of how the mill rate is developed, and the 2012 revaluation and how it will impact homeowners over the next three years.

“It’s an information session for how we put it together and what they can expect from where we stand,” Serenbetz said.

Serenbetz said the value of the town’s grand list will likely go down following the revaluation. When the list value falls, the mill rate will have to rise in order to collect the same amount of money in taxes.

The tax rate and the town’s proposed budget are still being developed.
