Wilton DTC Endorses Kleinfeld

Carole Young Kleinfeld will continue to serve the Democrats of Wilton as the registrar of voters.  The decision officially came during Wilton’s Democratic Town Committee’s meeting last night.  Kleinfeld who began her first two year term a year and a half ago when the past registrar of voters, Peggy Reeves ran for and was elected to Connecticut’s state senate.

“Just kind of something I have always been interested in,” said Kleinfeld speaking of prior experiences working at the polls in Farmington and New Hampshire. “It’s worked out very well for me.”

“She has a complex and difficult job to do right,” said Wilton DTC Chairman John Kalamarides, “We’re very pleased with her performance.”

As Democratic registrar of voters, it is Kleinfeld’s job to make sure new voters are on the Wilton roll as well as the Democratic roll, that elections are run properly, votes are recorded correctly and several other responsibilities.  Kleinfeld and Republican Registrar of Voters Tina Gardner have been asked to help teach other registrars of voters how to use some of the new technology and how to keep accurate records by the state senate.

Before becoming the registrar of voter’s, Reeves asked Kleinfeld to be her deputy registrar of voters.  About four and a half years after that, with her son Zach going away to college Kleinfeld had more spare time and with the registrar position vacant decided to take the promotion when the Wilton DTC offered it.
