What's Happening in Wilton This Weekend

WILTON, Conn. – School vacation still has everyone out of town and the number of things to do reflect the demand. Here is what’s happening the weekend of Feb. 24 to 26:

FRIDAY

• 10:30 a.m.: Head over to the Wilton Library to see "Kung Fu Panda 2" as a part of the vacation film series. No registration is necessary. Caregivers of children under 12 must be there.

• 2 p.m.: If you missed the first movie, the library will show "Mr. Popper's Penguins" in the afternoon. No registration is necessary. Caregivers of children under 12 must be there.

SATURDAY

• 11 a.m.: Children will get the opportunity to read to dogs as a part of Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue Therapy Dog Program. The children must be able to read by themselves to take part. Registration is required.

• 1 and 6 p.m.: The Ridgefield Playhouse is hosting two showings of Verdi’s Ernani through the Metropolitan Opera Live program. Each showing is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Tickets cost $20 or $25.

• 9:15 p.m.: Looking for an evening out? The Georgetown Saloon is hosting a Mardi Gras Party with River City Slim and the Zydeco Hogs.

SUNDAY

• 4 p.m.: The second lecture of the American Civil War Series will be held at the Wilton Library. Dione Longley will discuss the role of women in the Civil War and will lead a discussion on their diaries and letters. Registration is required by calling 203-762-3950.
