What's Happening in Wilton This Week

WILTON, Conn. – It’s the last week of school but that isn’t the only thing happening in Wilton. Here are some government and local events this week.

Residents are reminded that the town will be holding a weeklong “Hurricane Preparedness Drill” ending June 22 with a mock hurricane.

Monday, June 18

Folds of Golf Challenge: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rolling Hill’s Country Club is hosting an event to support the Folds of Honor Foundation and its mission to provide educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving our nation. Rolling Hills Country Club, 333 Hurlbutt Street, Wilton.

Board of Selectmen: 7 to 9:30 p.m. The Wilton Selectmen are holding a public information session about Sunday Sales in the town before continuing with the regular agenda to discuss, among other things, the hurricane preparedness drill. Wilton Town Hall, Room B, 238 Danbury Road, Wilton.

Tuesday, June 19

Book Buzz: 11 a.m. to noon. Moderated by one of Wilton Library’s reference librarians. Participants are encouraged to come and chat about one of their most recent favorite reads or just listen to what others recommend. Wilton Library 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton.

Board of Finance: 7:30 to 9 p.m. During this regular meeting of the board there will be a discussion of the Wolfpit Road Sewer Project and the town audit for Fiscal Year 2012. Wilton Town Hall, Room B, 238 Danbury Road, Wilton.

Author Talk with Charlotte Rogan: 7 to 8:30 p.m. “The Lifeboat” by Charlotte Rogan is based on old criminal law texts and her childhood experiences among a family of sailors provided inspiration for her novel. Wilton Library 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton.

Wednesday, June 20

Wilton High Film Festival: 7 to 9 p.m. The students of the Wilton High School Video Production class have assembled the best of their video projects to be viewed by the public. Teacher Ken Boehm will be screening and giving out awards for video programs from the fall and spring of this school year. Wilton Library 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton.

Special Public Meeting: 5 to 9 p.m. Wilton Water Pollution Control Authority will meet to discuss the proposed “user charge and budget” for the 2013 fiscal year. Residents are welcome to attend the public hearing to participate. Wilton Town Hall, Room B, 238 Danbury Road, Wilton.

Thursday, June 21

Poetic Excursions: 10:30 a.m. to noon Judson Scruton will lead the third in four classes on poetry exploring various poets and their writing techniques, the final is on June 28. Poetry packet available at front desk before seminar begins. Wilton Library 137 Old Ridgefield Road, Wilton.
