State Needs To Be Business Friendly, Lavielle Says

State Rep. Gail Lavielle has called for Connecticut to adopt “a long-term strategy for attracting businesses and creating a tax and regulatory climate where they can thrive.”

The 143 District Republican, who represents Norwalk and Wilton, spoke recently at the CBIA Connecticut Business and Industry Association annual Business Day in Hartford. Business owners and executives attending the event expressed concerns with Gov. Dan Malloy’s proposed tax increases, according to a press release. They were also concerned that the governor’s plan increases spending by $900 million over the next two years.

“Of course, government doesn’t create jobs — people and businesses do,” Lavielle said. “But government can stop job creation by making it hard to do business: raising taxes, imposing new restrictive regulations and mandates, allowing administrative process to drag on, and most important, not setting long-term policies that businesses can count on.”
