Driver Charged in Route 7 Crash

Route 7 has some of the worst traffic in Wilton, and during morning rush hour Sept. 17 it got even worse. Kristin Rainone, 25, of New Fairfield, was driving south in heavy traffic just past 8 a.m. and following too closely to a vehicle driven by Mark Altenburger, 42, of Danbury. Rainone was unable to stop before crashing into the back of Altenburger near the Four Seasons Racquet Club.

Altenburger reported injuries and was taken to Norwalk Hospital. Rainone was not injured. She was charged with following too closely and is set to appear in court Oct. 1.

Also in the police blotter:

? Manuel Teixeira, 40, of Shelton, turned himself in to Wilton police Sept. 21. There was a warrant for Teixeira's arrest on charges of failure to respond to a violation. Teixeira posted a $250 bond and will appear in court Oct. 1.
