WILTON, Conn. Actor and political commentator Charles Grodin is lending a hand and his voice to a local mental illness assistance organization.
The Wilton resident made a visit to the Wilton Library Thursday to film public service announcements on behalf of Laurel House, a Stamford-based organization that supports people with mental illness as they go through life. Grodin participated in an education celebration for Laurel House last year at Norwalk Community College.
Its a good place to go if youre dealing with emotional problems and youre alone. It just had a very pleasant atmosphere about it, Grodin said.
Grodin threw in some humor during the recording of the three PSAs, joking with Laurel House staff, the film crew and reporters waiting to ask questions after the recordings were finished.
Laurel House President and CEO Linda Autore said it was nice to have Grodin on the side of the organization. Hes a very big proponent of what we do, she said. Hes actually referred some people there. He must think were doing a good job, so hes offered to do this.
