Wilton Library Announces Lineup of Authors

WILTON, Conn. – Seven authors are descending onto the Wilton Library during the month of May, including Ann Patchett, whose book “State of Wonder” is this year’s town book.

The authors also include a returning Wilton native, a children’s author, a biographer and an actor turned author. Here is the lineup:

• Children’s author and illustrator Deborah Freedman brings her two books, “Scribble” and “Blue Chicken,” for children ages 2 and up and their parents on Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m.

• “Kayaking In and Around the Norwalk Islands” is author David Park’s book for an event Sunday, May 6, starting at 3:30 p.m.

• Sportswriter and author Jack Cavanaugh returns to the library Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m. to discuss his new release, “Season of ’42 — Joe D., Teddy Ballgame, and Baseball's Fight to Survive a Turbulent First Year of War.”

• Wilton native Mike Freeman shares his love of canoeing in his book, “Drifting — Two Weeks on the Hudson,” on Sunday, May 20, at 3:30 p.m.

• Actor and author Joe Pantoliano, comes to the library Monday, May 21, at 7 p.m. to share the candid story in his latest memoir, "Asylum: Hollywood Tales from My Great Depression: Brain Dis-Ease, Recovery, and Being My Mother's Son."

• Patchett returns to the Wilton Library on Wednesday, May 30, at 7 p.m. to discuss “State of Wonder.”

• On Thursday, May 31, at 7 p.m., Douglas Brinkley discusses his biography of television news legend Walter Cronkite, titled “Cronkite.”
