For her project Garvey, made trauma dolls for the Pediatric Department at Norwalk Hospital.
With the help of Christie's Quilting Boutique, the New Canaan Sewing Group and members of the community, she recently presented 50 dolls to the hospital. Hospital staff can use the dolls as education tools, and the dolls can also be given to pediatric patients, who can draw faces on them with special markers, also provided as part of this project.
With an interest in pre-med, Garvey selected a project that could help both the patients and the caregivers. The Norwalk Hospital staff praised Garvey for her efforts and for her ability to enlist many members of the community to collaborate on her project.
The Norwalk Hospital Volunteer Designs for Recovery program will participate along with other members of the community to keep this project as an ongoing initiative at Norwalk Hospital.
