Wilton Cycling Team Honored For CT Challenge Fundraising

WILTON, Conn. -- The Connecticut Challenge honored its Road Warriors and top 20 teams for 2013, including a team from Wilton, at a recent reception at the CT Challenge Center for Survivorship.

Each Road Warrior commits to raising at least $3,000 to support the ride and most participate on teams. This year’s teams accounted for 85 percent of the record $1.65 million that was raised on the ride.

Team Be Positive from Wilton, led by captain Jenn Lewis, was one of the teams honored for its efforts.

The CT Challenge Bike Ride fuels programs that help cancer survivors live healthier, happier and longer lives. This includes the CT Challenge Center for Survivorship, which opened one year ago in Southport. It is the only standalone survivorship center in the country and is an incubator for best practices that will set the model for fitness, nutrition, community support and lifestyle programs nationwide. CT Challenge programs impacted more than 54,000 cancer survivors last year.

Registration for the 2014 ride opened on Dec. 1. The ride takes place July 25 to 26 at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport. Participants choose to ride distances of 10 to 184 miles over one or two days and raise funds to support programs for cancer survivors.
