But not last Saturday. The couple dressed for salsa dancing among guests at the Havana Nights benefit where they were given the Second Mile Award for their work both with Habitat CFC and Habitat International.
“The Bauers have a strong desire to fully understand the impact of their giving and feel that it is essential for them to be personally involved in whatever they support,” said Stuart Adelberg, Habitat CFC’s CEO.
“If you were to stop by on a Saturday at one of our local home sites, it isn’t unlikely that you will run into Carol and George in their jeans, wielding a hammer, a paintbrush or whatever else is needed to complete a home for the next hard working Habitat homeowner."
"They have truly gone the second mile," Adelberg added.
The award was presented at Saturday's Cuban-themed benefit, which featured cocktails, dinner and a silent auction, at Fairfield Theatre Company's The Warehouse in Fairfield.
The Pasofino Social Club provided Latin music and there were salsa dancers from Latin Rhythm Dance Studio in Stratford to perform and give dance instructions for guests.
