Wilton Auditions Set for 'Life With Father'

WILTON, Conn. – Local actors looking for a role in a classic American stage comedy might want to audition for the Wilton Playshop's upcoming production of Clarence Day's "Life With Father."

The first auditions are Sunday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Wilton Playshop. Another round will be held Monday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m., with call-backs on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The auditions are "open," meaning anyone can try out. The actual performances will take place in February.

The play, set in 1880s New York City, tells the story of Day, his wife Vinnie and their four sons. It was adapted from life-based stories written by Day for The New and ran on Broadway for seven years. According to Wikipedia, it holds the record for longest-running non-musical play. In 1947, it was turned into a film with Elizabeth Taylor and in 1955 was made into a CBS television show.
