Musicians Jam at Wilton Teen Center

Some of the best young musical talent in Fairfield County, headlined by School of Rock Fairfield’s House Band, rocked out at Wilton’s Trackside Teen Center on Friday night. “We are going to blow the roof off of this place,” Katelyn Caruthers, one of the vocalists for School of Rock, predicted before the show.

Known for playing mostly classic rock music, School of Rock mixed in alternative and pop music as well to better suit the teen center crowd. The kids don’t mind playing different styles because it gives them a chance to learn more. “We want to broaden our horizons,” said Jeremy Staffa, a School of Rock guitarist.

When the School of Rock is not performing, it is what the name says: a school that teaches kids ages 7 to 17 to play and perform. Kids can take lessons on guitar, drums, bass and keyboard. The House Band is made up of the most experienced members of the school.

Local bands Chillingsworth and Borrowed Glory joined the House Band. Chillingsworth is a pop rock/ indie band from Weston made up of Steve Friedman, Zach Malett, Malcolm McClintock and Josh Malett. The members of Borrowed Glory are Weston residents Ryan Bigelow, Cameron Swanson and Eli Chodock. The band plays rock music.

Friday’s concert was supposed to kick off a weekend packed with music with the Bamboozle Break Contest taking place Saturday and Sunday. However, the producers of the contest have pushed it back to April 16.
