In a recent list compiled by Connecticut Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards, a Wilton staple has made the cut for “Most Romantic.”
The Schoolhouse at Cannondale, located at 34 Cannon Road, is one of just eight restaurants across the state that made the list. Others include:
- Ballo Italian Restaurant, Mohegan Sun
- Old Platform 6, Oakville
- Old Riverton Inn, Riverton
- 2 Hopewell, South Glastonbury
- Union League Cafe, New Haven
- Vue 24, Foxwoods
- Winvian, Morris
The Schoolhouse at Cannondale, which opened its doors in March of 2007, offers a variety of high-class dining styles. Dinner options include eccentric pairings such as short ribs with sautéed beet greens, smoked potato puree, pickled beech mushrooms and espresso caviar. Fans of fresh seafood may enjoy the smoked trout, which comes with celery root puree, brown butter leeks and potato gnocchi.
The Schoolhouse also offers a Prix Fixe dinner on Thursday, lunch on Friday and Saturday and brunch on Sunday.
The Schoolhouse at Cannondale’s Facebook page describes the eatery as a “fine dining farm-to-table restaurant inside the casual, yet elegant setting of a historic schoolhouse building nestled within New England's quaint Cannondale Village on the Norwalk River.” With a 4.8/5 star rating, customers have shared quite a bit of positive feedback.
