Annabel Green Flowers, which is tucked away in the Historic Cannon Crossing, specializes in English garden floral decorations. And for mom, the biggest request is for her glass cube, says owner Wendy Manes.
Using the cube as a vase, Manes fills it with a colorful cornucopia of blooms, keeping in the English Garden style of her shop, which she has operated for 26 years.
She says Mothers Day is even bigger for flowers than Valentine's Day. In fact, Mother's Day accounts for a fourth of the floral purchases made for holidays. About 35 percent of adults bought flowers or plants as gifts for Mother's Day last year.
According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, 66 percent of those celebrating Mother’s Day will buy mom flowers, spending an estimated $2.4 billion in 2016.
Based on consumer purchases of fresh flowers and plants for holidays at all outlets, the top holiday is Christmas, followed closely by Mother's Day with Valentine's Day coming in third.
