What To Do in Wilton This Weekend

WILTON, Conn. – Here are a few highlights of things to do in and around Wilton this weekend.  See our Events Calendar for more items.

Friday, Jan. 25 The Lounge at Wilton Library: 3:30 p.m. Children in grades 1 and up are invited to play video games on the Wilton Library’s Nintendo Wii system any time from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Comfortable seating will be available. Caregivers must remain in the building for children under age 12. The room will be open every Friday as long as there is available staff.  Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road.

Saturday, Jan. 26 Wilton Library Minecraft Club: 10 a.m. to noon:  Minecraft is a creative online computer game. Worlds made out of individual blocks are generated. In these unique worlds, players can build anything, mine anything, create anything and interact with other players. The only limit is your imagination. A server for the Wilton Library has been set up with a virtual world where the Minecraft community in Wilton can meet. Minecraft enthusiasts are welcome to join the Minecraft Computer Club on Saturday mornings to discuss and play everything Minecraft in the Children’s Library. Sunday, Jan. 27 Wilton Library/Wilton Historical Society Scholarly Series “A Star Spangled Nation: The War of 1812”: 4 p.m. In this third lecture of the annual collaboration between the Wilton Library and the Wilton Historical Society focusing on "The War of 1812, A Star-Spangled Nation," Walter Woodward will discuss" The War Connecticut Hated": the political impact of the war, especially on Connecticut. Woodward is a state historian and an associate professor of history at the University of Connecticut. A reception will follow the lecture. Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road.
