WILTON, Conn. — After a long winter, what better way to come out of hibernation than by exploring Wilton’s dining scene?
A total of 18 restaurants in Wilton and Georgetown are showing off what they’re made of for the second annual Wilton Restaurant Week, which ends Sunday, March 16. For the event, organized by the Wilton Chamber of Commerce, participating eateries are offering special prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner, and other special deals.
“Restaurant Week is great because there are people who have favorites they go to all the time, but this is a good opportunity for them to try a new restaurant they maybe wouldn’t have before,” said Janeen Leppert, executive director of the chamber.
Thanks to the success of last year’s inaugural event, Leppert said more restaurants decided to participate this time around, including Oak + Almond in Norwalk, which is located just beyond the Wilton border on Route 7.
“Being so close, they wanted to piggyback on the event and we are fortunate to have them,” Leppert said of Oak + Almond.
Other newcomers this year include Portofino Restaurant & Bar, Peachwave Frozen Yogurt, Lombardi’s Trattoria and Black Cat Grill, both in Georgetown.
Also on the roster are Bianco Rosso; Bistro 7; Bon Appetit Cafe; Cactus Rose Restaurant & Tequila Bar; Coffee Barn; Little Pub Wilton; Luca Ristorante Italiano; Luca Wine Bar in Georgetown; Marly’s of Wilton; Rancho Alegre in Georgetown; Reiki Sushi & Asian Bistro; Toozy Patza Pizza; and Wilton Pizza.
“There’s definitely a lot more to chose from this year, which we are really excited about,” Leppert said.
Not only does Restaurant Week offer residents the opportunity to enjoy a night on the town for less, Leppert said it also helps drum up business for the participating restaurants and benefits the local economy as a whole.
“Last year’s event brought in so many out-of-towners, and that’s a great thing for Wilton,” she said. “We've had a brutal winter and this Restaurant Week is coming at a time when restaurants seem like they really need a boost, so we’re hoping to encourage people to venture out and not stay cooped up.”
