Trader Joe's Supported For Former Wilton Borders Site

WILTON, Conn.  – Trader Joe’s is a popular choice to fill the former Borders space in Wilton.

If some Wilton residents had a say, Trader Joe's would fill the vacant former Borders location on Danbury Road.

Readers of the Wilton Daily Voice gave their thoughts on our Facebook page for possible replacements for the space off Danbury Road that was vacated about two years ago when Borders filed for bankruptcy.

Trader Joe’s, the specialty grocery store chain, has proven to be the option most want to see.

“Trader Joe's for sure!” said Victoria Gibson Kantor. Mona Amin was also anxious for the grocer to make Wilton its home. “Trader Joe’s, Please!!” Amin said. While Katie Hammett Hall wanted Trader Joe’s or a similar style shop.

For Heather Oros Dobson, “Trader Joe’s would be awesome! We need another food store on that end of town.”

Furniture and home décor store HomeGoods also received some endorsements, including from readers Magdalena DiPaolo and Farrah Minnich.

Steven Dudziek, senior leasing associate for Urstadt Biddle Properties, said recently that he hoped to have a tenant for the 20,000 square-foot space in about a month. He declined to say what company might lease the space.
