Although the store opens Thursday, curious visitors who stopped in Wednesday were treated to free samples. Among them were Middlebrook School students John Fortuna, Oliver Peacock and Henry Greene—and they enthusiastically approved of what they tasted.
“This is amazing,” Oliver said as she ate a spoonful of cookies-and-cream-flavored frozen yogurt.
“It actually tastes like cookies and cream,” added Henry.
Located at 142 Old Ridgefield Road, across the street from the Wilton Library, Peachwave boasts eight machines, each of which serves two flavors. This means visitors will always have 16 different flavors to choose from, store manager Ryan Ventura said.
Customers have even more flavor options if they opt to “twist” the two flavors together, Ventura said. Flavors are not randomly paired side-by-side, he said. Instead, careful consideration goes into what flavors go well together. For example, a machine may serve cheesecake-flavored frozen yogurt on one side and strawberry on the other, allowing customers to create strawberry cheesecake, he said.
In total, Ventura said the store will offer more than 50 flavors on a rotating basis, including seasonal option, such as pumpkin pie. When added with the 60-plus toppings offered, he said customers will never get bored with the selection.
“Because we have such a large variety, there are so many combination possibilities,” he said. “Essentially, each time you come in, you can make something new for the rest of your life.”
As Peachwave is geared at offering children and adults a healthier alternative to ice cream, flavor options range from gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, low-fat and non-fat.
More than just a frozen yogurt shop, Ventura said Peachwave is community-oriented. The store will engage in a variety of community outreach initiatives, such as sponsoring local sports teams and supporting local organizations, he said.
Moreover, Peachwave is family-oriented, Ventura said.
“We want this to be a family experience—a place where family traditions and memories are created.”
Peachwave is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and noon to 10 p.m. Fridays through Sundays.
