Rain Soaks Fairfield County Streets

Heavy rain and thunder bombarded Fairfield County on Thursday afternoon, forcing drivers to proceed with caution as water filled streets.

With about a quarter-inch of rain expected to fall Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning and flood advisory. Heavy rain may cause ponding on roadways, which can be dangerous to drive through. The weather service says to turn around and find another route if you encounter a flooded street.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely to stay in the area through Friday night, the forecast says. An inch of rain or more could fall in the area. The forecast next calls for sun on Sunday and into next week.
