Car Fire Cleared From Merritt Parkway

UPDATE: The scene of the car fire has been cleared. The Fairfield Fire Department responded and doused the fire, which occurred near Exit 42 in Fairfield. Click here for an updated story from Daily Voice.

WESTPORT, Conn. — A car fire was reported on the southbound side of the Merritt Parkway during Monday morning rush hour, the state Department of Transportation said.

The fire was between Exits 44 and 42, and the right lane was closed in the area, DOT. The incident was reported Monday, Aug. 14, at 7:46 a.m., DOT said.

Delays on the southbound Merritt were reported at nearly 7 miles, back to Exit 46, DOT said.

No further information was available on the accident.
