Thousands Of Dollars Raised For Sons Of Fairfield County Man Who Died From Cancer
Members of the community have raised thousands of dollars for the children of a Fairfield County man who died of cancer. Erik Tlatelpa, age 41, of Trumbull, died on Friday, June 3, of pancreatic cancer, according to a GoFundMe set up to create a college fund for his two sons. 19: NCAA Division III Cancels Winter Championships
There will be no winter championships for Division III student-athletes as the NCAA called off tournaments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Citing low participation numbers among member schools, the NCAA Division III announced that winter championships are canceled this year as the country combats the spread of COVID-19. 19: First Practice Date Set For CT High School Sports
Play ball! The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) laid out its plan to kickstart winter sports as the state continues combating the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the CIAC, the first practice date for winter sports has been scheduled for no earlier than Tuesday, Jan. 19 - after the MLK Day holiday - with games set to start on or after Monday, Feb. 8. In total, 12 regular-season games will be permitted in girls and boys basketball, boys ice hockey, girls gymnastics, and boys swimming.
